This Lasagne Soup recipe has taken the internet by storm!! We got the inspiration from the wonderful Bored of Lunch who gave us an expert guide through the recipe. After trying it ourselves all we can say is how easy and fantastically delicious it is!
However, it’s caused a little bit of a stir because people on first glance just think that it’s a form of Spag Bol but you need to take our words for it - it is SO MUCH MORE! It’s lovely and creamy and full of those delicious lasagne flavours that fill us with delight!
Check out the initial recipe from Bored of Lunch and then our version of it below:
And now you can watch our attempt at making it here:
We just want to start off by giving our props to a kitchen gadget that doesn’t always get much appreciation… how incredible are slow cookers? At the moment we’re obsessed and this beef lasagne soup recipe is working just the treat in it. What’s fantastic is how easy it is to cook this in the slow cooker - just pop everything in and let it cook away for a few hours and your delicious soup will be waiting for you! It’s fantastically easy. In our opinion - slow cookers are lit genius and if you’re thinking of your next kitchen gadget we recommend it!
The recipe:
So we’re going to start off adding some garlic - when we decide how much garlic to put in we’re going to suggest that you put enough garlic in so that your breath be stanking for a few days.
Then of course some diced onion.
Then we decided to add a red pepper in; mainly just because it was going off in the fridge - so why not chuck it in there!
Then you want to add in your herbs - not your spices! We decided to go for a bit of oregano and lil bit of basil just to keep it interesting.
Next we’re going to add our chopped tomatoes and don’t you just love it when the tin comes with those ring pulls and you don’t need to get that crusty can opener that never works out of the draw.
Anyway… you’re then going to add your two tablespoons of tomato puree.
Salt - always - salt. Salt, salt and more salt - for that flavour mmmmm!
Obviously you need to add your beef mince and what’s even better you don’t need to brown it off - it’ll all cook in the slow cooker!
You’re then going to add some Worcestershire sauce and some beef stock and make sure you mix it in well!
Then you’re going to pop the lid on and set it 4 hours and all you can do then is wait.
About half an hour before you’re ready to eat it we’re going to go in with the lasagne sheets. They say to use fresh lasagne sheets but they didn’t have any in the supermarket - and if you watched my video it always tastes that lil bit more fresh when you don’t drop them all on the floor.
You’re then going to add some cream.
A whole ball of mozzarella ripped up into piece- gosh sometimes a piece of mozzarella just slaps - really been in the mood for anything cheesy or creamy at the moment.
You’re then going to pop in a bit of parmesan.
And leave it for a little while to melt in.
The results:
Oh goodness! This dish smells absolutely delicious when you lift up the lid. Really hoping for that cheese pull when we scoop it all out - need that stringy mozzarella to do its bit.
So the verdict on the lasagne soup - this is a new winter fave! It’s delicious - the lumps of mozzarella intertwined with that strong onion garlic and herb base is just fantastic. Definitely a new slow cooker favourite!
If you’ve tried it - let us know your thoughts in the comments: Is the lasagne soup a hit or a miss for you? Till next time.
This French Drink Tastes Exactly like Mint Ice Cream
Recently, we had the pleasure of spending some time in the idyllic French countryside, and when in France it’s important to engage in the culture. This time we weren’t looking at baguettes or croissants. This time we tried a children’s classic. You may have heard of it or maybe not with the very French name of: Teisseire Sirop de Plantes Menthe. We translated it to Mint Syrup… now, people might think this is a weird sounding drink and if you’re a little nervous to try it! Do not worry! We’ve done it for you - check it out below:
Good day friends!
Now these syrups seems to be very much the French equivalent of the more British cordial/ squash like Robinsons Orange! A British classic. A lot of people have been telling us that we need to try this syrup because we’re such a big fan of the mojito and mint and lime type drink.
On first inspection when you pour this syrup out you will notice; IT IS VICIOUSLY GREEN! Just look at my reaction…
We’re going to be trying it first with some water because our fave condiment girl - Condiment Claire says that back in the day all the French kids would have it with milk. You can find her video just below:
With Water:
We’re not quite so sure about the mint and milk vibe… kinda feels like when you’re brushing your teeth and then you have a glass of milk after it and it really doesn’t go together! It seems quite wrong. So, we’re going to try it with water first.
On first impression the best word I can give it is… interesting… very interesting. It’s definitely minty. Kinda tastes like mouthwash. For some reason we thought it would be limey - no idea where that came from but definitely not what we were expecting with the water.
With Milk:
This time we’re gonna try this sucker with milk, it feels wrong just saying it. It sounds rogue. Mint milk - like these things just do not go together and it was very argued in the comments as well whether this was even something that people had as kids or not.
It looks wrong - is Condiment Claire having us on? Is she playing a joke on us? But maybe, in the area she was from it was a common thing? Like we were big fans of having celery and peanut butter and we’re certain that’s not a common snack everywhere else - you wouldn’t find that up in Yorkshire.
On looking at it again for a second time it looks a bit like a sweetie. Maybe on the same lines as a banana milkshake. And if you looked at Condiment Claire’s video you’ll see they have so many different flavours to choose from like passionfruit, strawberry and even grenadine. This has kinda got us thinking that we need a full taste test on these bad boys…
So, the mint one with milk. The taste of it we were not anticipating. If we were going to describe it, it sort of tastes like the inside of an After Eight in a drink.
To be fair to it… it’s actually not as bad as you might be thinking. It’s A LOT better with the milk than it is with the water. Hot damn… that’s surprised us. What the heck?
We’ve got it… it tastes like melted mint chocolate ice cream or like mint ice cream.
If ever in France you guys need to try this.
Let us know in the comments what you think and if there’s any of you crazy cats who prefer it with water you’ve got to let us know!
Till next time.
The Jennifer Anniston salad recipe!
Jennifer Anniston has been an icon for as long as we can remember; we’re gonna take not even 2 minutes of your time to run you through it so you can take that little bit of Anniston magic for yourself!
Jennifer Anniston has been an icon for as long as we can remember; plus Friends is practically one of our most favouritist things on the planet and so we like to keep up to date.
Keeping up to date means knowing the secrets to Jennifer Annistons life… and by that we mean - what the heck does she eat. In all of our digging we came accross her secret salad recipe. We’re gonna take not even 2 minutes of your time to run you through it so you can take that little bit of Anniston magic for yourself!
So this is the secret recipe to Jennifer Annistons favourite salad; we know there’s been a lot of speculation… but this is information straight from the gal herself.
Ingredients:
Chicken
Bacon
Salami
Tomato
Iceberg Lettuce
Chickpeas
A sprinkle of Parmesan
Italian Dressing
I know what you’re thinking… and your right it’s nothing ground breaking it’s just an everyday salad. But, if you enjoy an everyday salad who are we to say anything about it!
Viral Doughnuts that are worth the hype!
We thought it was about time that we went and tried some of those viral doughnut hot spots that EVERYBODY is raving about. It’s good to be up to date… we love a doughnut… so let’s get into it!
We thought it was about time that we went and tried some of those viral doughnut hot spots that EVERYBODY is raving about. It’s good to be up to date… we love a doughnut… so let’s get into it! We tried three places: Longboys, Doh’ hut and Bread Ahead, and we’re going to give you our honest thoughts on them so doughnut go anywhere!
Longboys
First up we tried Longboys - now people had been raving about them for a while and boy was it good! They use a light brioche dough which is beautifully light, it feels like you’re biting into a cloud. It’s not too heavy or sickly that sometimes can happen with other doughnuts. The lightness makes it really enjoyable and you don’t feel gross afterwards.
We got the chocolate hazelnut flavour and it was so good! We loved it, they had the perfect balance of flavour so it wasn’t too rich like some doughnuts can be but still had enough flavour to really tantalise that taste buds!
Fully recommend definitely worth the hype!
Doh’ Hut
We love it when a bakery does something unique and imaginative and so we were so inspired by Doh’hut who have brought together two of our favourite things. Doughnuts and Bagels to design ‘The Dagel’. We think this is so much fun and you know us over here at Insert name here We’re savory people through and through.
We decided to try a whole assortment of doughnuts, but we got the cream cheese and spring onion Dagel and do you know what for something that is half doughnut half bagel it really did taste like a bagel - but the texture was doughnutesque which gave it a light and springy quality.
The sweet doughnuts we tried as well were delicious and we really enjoyed trying them. They were flavourful, and not too rich and had a light texture to them.
Another one that we recommend.
Bread Ahead
Everyone has been banging on about Bread Ahead for a long time… and it’s taken us a while to investigate the hype as we haven’t really been convinced. But, we decided it was time and we went and tried Bread Ahead.
We started off with a chocolate and honeycomb and we actually found it to be quite dark and bitter in its flavour, it didnt’ have the lightness and sweetness that we would expect in our doughnuts. It almost felt like it had been overcooked in oil that wasn’t quite right… you kind of just feel that taste in your mouth. We were not impressed at all…
Bread Ahead is definitely NOT worth the hype.
Thanks for joining us on our Viral Doughnut adventure. Let us know what your favourite doughnuts in the comments and if you find any hidden gems make sure you let us know!
We tried The most expensive cookie in london!
Fellow cookie officianados, when it comes to Cookie’s we know exactly what we’re talking about and when we hear about a deluxe cookie you know we have to try it. So we went out and found the MOST expensive cookie in London and we’re here to tell you all about it
Fellow cookie officianados, when it comes to Cookie’s we know exactly what we’re talking about and when we hear about a deluxe cookie you know we have to try it. So we went out and found the MOST expensive cookie in London and we’re here to tell you all about it, so that you can add a little cookie excitement to you day.
We headed off for our expedition into London - there’s always something exciting when you’re on a cookie hunt in London, and found ourselves at Hyde Park Station and heading to The Berkeley that is the home of world famous pastry chef - Cedric Grolet. Of course we were very excited to get stuck in.
So we enter in and we couldn’t believe it. This was unlike anything we’d ever seen. It was elite. Everything was elite. The building was elite. The layout was elite. The pastries looked elite. It was unreal. And you always know you’ve gone to the next level when you can’t find a price tag anywhere. This was no ordinary bakery - this was like an pastry art show.
The aesthetic was just incredible, we were loving it. Even more so we appreciated the staff who were lovely and so genuine. For a second we’re going take you away from the pastry and tell you about the toilets! Flipping heck - the toilets were amazing. We had so much fun because they had these awesome swirling vortex flushes and you know we just can’t help marvel at an incredible toilet.
The Food
We started our experiement with a fresh mint tea - just a little pallette cleanser before we delved into the baked delights. You will never guess how much this mint tea was… £9! We could not believe that they were charging almost £10 for a mint tea - it’s daylight robbery. What’s even crazier is that we paid it - the things we do for a fresh mint tea.
On to the Cookies. As stated we consider ourselves to be on the more experienced side of cookie tasting… an expert you may say… perhaps even a professional cookie taster so we feel we know what we’re talking about here.
I’ll justs say this… it was a good cookie, but it wasn’t amazing. The texture was slightly gritty and it didn’t have the soft, melty to die for texture that we look for, and in that the flavour was good but it wasn’t mind blowing fantastic. Fortunately, the pistacio cookie was much better in our opinion. It had the balance between sweet and salty and the texture had lost that grittiness of the first one but, it was NOT worth £25.
So there you have it… a good cookie, but not a great cookie! If you have the strength to pay £25 and try it for yourself - let us know what you think in the comments.
Trying London’s croissant crawl!
Over here at INSERT NAME HERE we’re not so much the pub crawl kinda people. We love the premise - but we prefer the pastries. So we were beyond buzzed when we realised the new crawl on the block was a CROISSANT CRAWL!
Over here at Here and There we’re not so much the pub crawl kinda people. We love the premise - but we prefer the pastries. So we were beyond buzzed when we realised the new crawl on the block was a CROISSANT CRAWL!
The croissant crawl isn’t just a stop and pop by any bakery you can find oh no! It has a purpose. A purpose that seeks to connect three of the ultimate, most wordly reknowned and famous croissant innovators in London. And we are here for it. We want to experience the flaky, buttery, squidgy deliciousness that is the laminating process of making croissants.
How does it work?
The crawl works like this: It’s a journey between the man himself - Phillippe Conticini, Le Deli Robuchon and finally but by no means last Richoux. The brilliant thing about the crawl is that you can complete the crawl in about 40 minutes - which adds all the fun of a day out wandering London - but also you get the more original and unique croissant creations.
Phillippe Conticini
This is our first stop, and it’s nice and easy being located close to Kensington Station. Firstly, what a display. It was a smorgassboard of delicious pastries, glowing and shining, filling your eyes with delight. From luxurious and delicately crafted croissants to the most mouth watering pain au chocolats there were XL croissants that looked like they could feed a family. It was mesmerising.
It was like a tapestry of pastry, and the croissant was it’s center piece. Light, flakey and delicious. You’ve definitely got to try it!
Le Deli Robuchon
Le Deli Robuchon is the next step on the crawl, right next to Green Park station. It was an elegant space and the pastry counter immediately caught my eye from the end of the room. We were excited for this because of the quirky take on a traditional fave.
Here we had, The Cube. Like what! They’ve turned a croissant into a cube. How awesome - brilliant - genius! We could not wait to get a taste of this bad boy and we know you won’t be able to either!
Richoux
Our last stop on the crawl is at Richoux which luckily is only 5 minutes away from Robuchon. Richoux was a little more intimidating as it was less of a traditional bakery and more like a restaurant - luckily because they obviously know how good their pastries are they had a takeaway pastry counter for us.
At Richoux they’ve had a imaginative idea to form the Cruffin - you guessed it - half muffin/ half croissant! The swirling flavours invite you in and as you know the first bite is with the eyes!
Overall Thoughts
The best croissant was most definitely at Richoux - the flavours were intoxicating mixing dreamy vanilla and raspberry that complimented each other perfectly. It was refreshing and different and utterly delicious.
This was closely followed by Le Deli Robuchon the pastry was flakey and buttery and felt excellent on the tongue and everything mixed together to form a perfect bite.
Phillipe Conticini was our least favourite of the 3. It wasn’t flakey but had a more burnt texture to the bite, the filling was tart and didn’t compliment the pastry.
If you want to go from best to worth - start with Richoux and go backwards.
If you want to go from worst to best - start with Conticini and end with Richoux.
Each of these croissants are going to set you back aroudn £7 which isn’t cheap - but Richoux was most definitely worth it.

The Best Sandwhiches in London!
We’re not going to lie to you; here at Insert name here we love a sandwhich! Whether it’s a lil bite for lunch or an afternoon tea. We LOVE it. So we thought we would do some exploring and find some of London’s best sandwhich so you can join in with our passion.
We’re not going to lie to you; at Here and There we love a sandwhich! Whether it’s a lil bite for lunch or an afternoon tea. We LOVE it. So we thought we would do some exploring and find some of London’s best sandwhich so you can join in with our passion.
Here’s a little look at what happened:
The most expensive Sandwhich
We started off at a British fave, an icon, a symbol of British pride. You guessed it. It’s Harrod.
After having a little parousal of the offerings we found our most expensive sandwhich. It was a beautiful looking Wagyu steak sandwhich here is the official Harrods description:
Did somebody say Wagyu steak sandwich? Comprised of mouth-wateringly good Chillean Mollendo Wagyu sirloin, deep fried to perfection with a blushing pink centre.
But we think it was actually a bit over priced. It definitely had a good flavour, the dressing on the inside was nice and the steak was melt in your mouth. But… and this a big butt because you know we don’t like our bottoms soggy. THE BOTTOM OF THE SANDWHICH WAS MOIST. DAMP. SOGGY. So in our overall assessment we decided that this sandwhich was definitely not worth the £28 we paid for it.
The Least Expensive Sandwhich
Our second sandwhich is a lesser known favourite. A hidden gem you might say. And we’ve always said that the best places are the ones the locals go to eat. This place was picked with an assortment of different people and it had the cheapest sandwhich on offer - a classic cheese sammie for only £2.
This little gem is called the Maestro Deli and it had a heap of sandwhich options. The deli itself is comprised of local workers and they were absolutely lovely. Salt of the earth and put a smile on my face.
We love getting involved in the food we eat and we loved that in true deli form we got to choose our bread (classic white), we got the option of salt and pepper, and it’s made right in front of you.
Ahhh, nothing better than a good ol’ cheese sandwhich - flippin delicious.
We had so much fun finding these sandwhiches. Tell us in the comments your favourite sandwhich place or your favourite sandwhich (no matter how weird the filling).

Let’s take a look
Idea 1: Rug Making
There’s nothing better than learning a new skill! We love it! If you’re like us, the best way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon is doing something creative! So why not go rug making - this was the most fun day out! You and your partner can get tufting - all you need to do is send in a design (make sure you don’t have any rugrets) as you can’t change it after. The whole process is super satisfying and we LOVED getting to tidy it up with the rug shaver - SO SATISFYING! The best part is you get to take a cute little rug home at the end of the day!
Here’s a few ideas we found!
and…
Idea 2: Food Markets
There nothing more fun that a little competition when dating! Obvs not too much… But, taking an afternoon out to go and explore a new food market is so much fun. We went and tried the Arcade Food Hall in Tottenham Court Road - the food was delicious and it was great having all the options. They even had a little app, so it just arrived at your table - LOVE! Why not set up a little challenge - like letting them pick your meal - or who can get the best food for under £10?
Here’s a few other markets to try:
or maybe….
Idea 3: Taste Film
We can’t quite believe it took us over a year to get tickets to Taste Film. But let me tell you it was well worth the hype and would be a very cute date! We went to see Ratatouille and it was incredible as they literarily bring you the food that you’re seeing on screen. They had every little detail thought of - and it was completely themed throughout. Our personal fave bit was the Leek and Potato soup - it had lil croutons and cheese! Of course they had to do the ratatouille and I loved that it came out and matched up with the quote - plus it was flipping delicious. The staff were great - and it even catered for non alcoholics.
Check it out - I think they’re doing Matilda at the moment!
We had so much fun finding all of these. Let us know in the comments your own unique date ideas - or if you’ve got any good rug designs! .
